TANcast 119 – Star Trek v Star Wars

October 4th, 2010 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

This week the TANboys tackle the great nerd debate of our generation: Who would win if the Star Trek Universe fought the Star Wars universe. Ladies, this episode will surely make your panties moist…oh wait…no…well, only if you pee yourself because your man is locked in the bathroom arguing with his iPod.

[CONTENT WARNING] TANcast features mature language and immature hosts but is NOT a representation of the stand up act of Tim Babb. Listener discretion is advised.

    oh, btw, spoiler alert.

Name the baby Crocs! Name the baby Crocs!

  4. CJ (TANcast's #1 Mormon Fan)No Gravatar Says:

@Alissa Ya. You already spoiled it for me, but I forgive you.

Is the baby kicking its feet?

Mousetalgia Button and Baby Babb should be best friends.

  6. GeoffNo Gravatar Says:

Did Dynelle tell anyone before you announced it on TANcast? If not, that’s kind of hilarious. The child’s existence first became known to the world on a podcast that he/she should never listen to. Anyway, congrats Tim!!!

Hey Tim I am still listening and loving you all. I have been entertaining family from Germany for the last 10 days and especially enjoyed the laughs tonight at work! Congrats to you and the wife.

Congratulations, Tim and Danelle!!!! Fantastic news! Kids are the best!

  9. Murray (TANcast's #1 Aussie Fan)No Gravatar Says:

    Sorry, *Dynelle*.

I agree with Geoff and find it ironic that Baby Babb’s announcement was made on a podcast that he probably should never hear. Regardless, congratulations to you and the wife, you are going to go through a really trying, tiring, yet ultimately rewarding time.

And now that the shock has worn off, and I’ve dried off the office chair I accidentally peed on when I “squeed” (yes, I put the “wee” in “squee”),

  12. BreenoNo Gravatar Says:

    Congratulations Tim and Dynelle!!

@Alissa I got it half spoiled. All I read was “Baby Baby!” and back off then so I didn’t know who of the three it was. For some reason I expected it more to be Noah.

@CJ I see Crocs more as a middle name, what about Walter Crocs Babb? (then we have Tim’s love of Disney AND Andy’s dress sense) Has a ring to it I feel..

Anyway moving away from baby talk, I think Star Wars would win in that fight, although I am only going by the 2009 Star Trek movie, about 6 original series episodes and less NG episodes. I may need to increase my trek knowledge before making a fair judgement.

    Congratulations Tim and Dynelle!!!!

    @Tim Congrates

@Alissa don’t apologize, why would someone post a comment before listening?

As for the topic of discussion, I don’t have a complaint but it was as if the whole podcast was discussing Apple products (or computer products in general). I had no idea what was being discussed, but then again my dad & sister are Star Trek (dad) and Star Wars (sis) fans so I’m used to hearing this discussion. But MAN I was lost.

  15. Melanie (TANcast's #1 MILF/GILF)No Gravatar Says:

@Chelsea – I comment before listening all the time! But I know there may be spoilers going in, and if I come here before listening, “I takes my chances”. 🙂

And why do I comment before listening? Because I often have my almost-6-y/o son in the car. And he already knows the words Shit and Dick and Dickhead. And I just can’t reinforce that with TANcast. So I get my fix here when I don’t have a chance to listen first. 🙂

  16. ChelseaNo Gravatar Says:

ahh things to look forward to as my son gets older. One time is almost sounded like my 10 mother old said something that sounded like “shit”. Someone said “what was that?” (to my son) I said “oh he’s just learning his S’s … he said ‘shhh’…” This is only the beginning. 😛

  17. Jason (TANcast's #7 Fan)No Gravatar Says:

    Congrats Tim!

  18. JennNo Gravatar Says:

Star Trek. And there was not nearly enough discussion on this topic. What’s with all the hating on Voyager? It was better than Enterprise, right? Enterprise was the series that actually made me stop watching Trek on TV. I felt Voyager got a lot better when Seven of Nine was added to the cast, but then they killed it with that awful series finale.

    Congratulations, Tim!

  19. Melanie (TANcast's #1 MILF/GILF)No Gravatar Says:

@Chelsea, and Tim and Andy for that matter: Things to look forward to: Your son calling you a dickhead when you pick him up from school too early (fortunately, he waited until we got outside). Your mother accidentally teaching him “shit”. Him saying “Is it all right to say ‘dickwid’ instead of ‘liquid’ because it’s just a nonsense word…”

  20. Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)No Gravatar Says:

Thank you all for your kind wishes!

But Chelsea thinks there’s too much Trek/Wars talk Jenn says there’s not enough…proving once again that you can’t please everybody, but if you’re TANcast you can disappoint everybody. 🙂

  21. Mysterious Matt (TANcast's #1 Mysterious Fan)No Gravatar Says:

Actually, I was really pleased with the topic. To be honest (to my shame) I expected that Tim was going to quote that line he’s mentioned from TNG about “Lasers!? They couldn’t even penetrate our **?** shields with that” as a decisive blow, which would have disappointed me (apart from anything else, noone mentions lasers in Star Wars… who says that the guns (firing projecctiles that glow, but move at much less than the speed of light) are/have to be lasers?). I thought that it was a great ep!

Congratulations, Tim. You should call it CrocBaby, in honor of Andy.
I remember you asking some questions about norwegians, weeks ago. I thought i could answer them here.
(You probably don’t even asking them now, though…)
Norwegians do have the same kind of humor as americans, as we are a western country, and we watch american movies and TV-shows all the time.

And I’ve been procuring movies without subtitles over the internet for years, so I can understand even you guys easily.

    Yay Tim! And Dynelle!

Folks, just need to point out: a baby Babb would be a Babby.

  24. Melanie (TANcast's #1 MILF/GILF)No Gravatar Says:

    love it, Andrew!
