TANcast 003 – TANcast SMASH!!!

June 17th, 2008 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

The TAN Boys finally get around to discussing politics…but first they have to get through some really bad impressions, puzzle over internet celebrity, compare modern prime time TV to the classic Incredible Hulk series, get a little guest comedy form comedian/writer Orlando Bishop, discuss helmet wearing babies, and visit the internet’s crappiest website. Then, and only then are they prepared to lower the discourse of politics further than Fox News already has.

[CONTENT WARNING] TANcast features mature language and immature hosts. Listener discretion is advised.

Another TANcast, another hour of my life flushed down the toilet.
You can find a pic at ratemypoo.com.
Thanks for another funny ass show, guys.

  2. Geoff Says:

Favorite line: “as opposed to LAND OF MAGIC”

  3. Miranda Says:

How did the little icons for the commenters get decided?? First I get forgotten about until the 3rd TANcast and then I get the bitter old dude icon?

    I see how it is.

  4. Matt Says:

Hey did you ever notice that the ending theme of the Hulk TV show sounds a lot like the instrumental part of James Blunt’s “Your beautiful”. Good show guys.

  5. Alissa Says:

I don’t know what y’all listen to, or if you watch music videos at all…but right after listening to this I saw the vid for Weezer’s song “Pork and Beans” and busted up laffing. Because their vid stars a bunch of internet celebs. including the numa numa guy AND chris crocker.
just thought that was a fun coincidence.

  6. Andy Says:

I’m not sure about Tim, but Noah and I are big Weezer fans. He told me about “Pork and Beans” the day the video dropped on YouTube, and I laughed my silly ass off.

South Park beat Weezer to the “parody all the internet memes” punch by about 2 months, though:

    Miranda –
Short version: Nobody (human) picked that face for you.

We are planning to display personal icons on comments, so I just turned on a system that automatically generates a little avatar face based on your e-mail address for anyone without an icon (specifically, a gravatar or openvatar).

This all might change soon; I may replace the faces with a default image or a generated geometric shape, I may keep the faces, or I may pull the avatar icons altogether. There’s a lot of work to be done (new theme, changing ads, better podcast stats, banner images, etc.) and I’ve been having fun experimenting, so from time to time some weird shit is gonna pop up on the site.

For more on those personal icons:

Edit: Just as I posted this comment my new gravatar went live. Now all my comments have a lovely picture of ME beside them! Aren’t I pretty?

  8. Tony Says:

Hrm….music videos using Youtube stars? Don’t know about South Park…stopped watching that back around 2001…but I checked Weezer’s video, uploaded May 23, 2008.

Barenaked Ladies uploaded Sound Of Your Voice Feb. 6, 2007. Used some of the same folks, like Numa Numa and Eepybird.

Wonder how far back this goes?

Sorry…gotta do something to kill time before the next TANcast comes out.

  9. Jo Says:

    Jolly good show chaps.

I was expecting politics and was pleasantly surprised!

I thought I’d let you know as you mentioned her, that I actually heard about your podcast from Grammar Girl and found you on iTunes. Maybe I’m your first listener in the UK? Anyway, I’ll do my best to inform the Cockney masses.

  10. Iris (Andy's mom's "stepdaughter"/ Andy's "stepsister) Says:

Thanks Tim, but no you did not nail it…. thats right people, my joke was on TANcast! ANd was said by the coolest member, Nancy!!!! My lameass freshman-of-high-school-mental-capacity joke was on a podcast listened to by ten odd people! 😉
And Andy, to clear things up, I am Mama’s (ugh) “step” daughter and your “step”sister…but we don’t like to use that word at our house..meanie…
And, also, no, don’t worry, Mama knows OF the podcast but is smart enough NOT to listen to it, but I do..blackmail b**ch
the annoying fan/sister you never had
