I was so happy when the special guest showed up!

Hubby and I love going to expensive restaurants. I go to a restaurant to eat. I go to an expensive restaurant for the service. There are some pricey places where both the service and the food hit it out of the park, such as Michael Mina’s Stonethill Tavern in Dana Point (I think that’s where it is – it’s in the St. Regis, and home of the $75 appetizer), and his Nobhill Tavern in the MGM Grand in Vegas. Tom Colicchio’s CraftSteak in Vegas (also MGM) is another. The former Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton.

But my favorite finds of course are those where the food is incredibly good, the service is amazing, and the price is high but not too expensive – The Bungalow in Corona Del Mar, Park Avenue in Stanton, Cafe Beaujolias in Eagle Rock.

Wow – that sounds way douchier than it was supposed to. The context is Tim and Noah talking about going to an expensive restaurant and deciding that they could have had better food either at home, or elsewhere for less. My take is that at a fancy restaurant, the food is only half, or less, of what you are paying for. And while I love the restaurants I mentioned, I don’t go to them more than 3-4 times a year for the superfancies, and 5-6 times for the ones in the second paragraph.

The graphic for this episode had me clicking on every page, looking at the other graphics — I’ve never noticed that collar(?) on Noah. What the hell is that, a cape?

  5. NoahNo Gravatar Says:

@Jenn I wonder if we should turn this in a contest “wtf is Noah wearing”

  6. JennNo Gravatar Says:

It reminds me of a frilled lizard. And Noah, as much as I enjoy hearing what’s outside your window, do you never cook anymore?

  7. NoahNo Gravatar Says:

@Jenn I do cook but it is the same thing now, I either make soup or chili for the week. I should talk about the food I eat because I have been eating out a lot.

  8. JennNo Gravatar Says:

@Noah Yes, yes, we hear all about the food trucks… I just miss your theme song! Now I’ve got to go over to episode 159’s page and bitch about Tim…
