I’ve Finally Got The Moves Like Jager

September 24th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Day 24

I’ve recently discovered and fallen in love with the 2011 Maroon 5 song Moves Like Jagger. I’m not sure how I’ve avoided listening to it until now. I mean I know I’ve “heard” it, but I was never really listening. But now that I’ve discovered it for real, I’m in that sweet stage of liking a song where I can’t get enough of it. I think I played it on a loop for an hour straight.

I get this way with songs, tv shows, and movies sometimes. I burn white hot on them for a while.
The downside is, once the infatuation wears off, the song/show/movie usually drops off my radar. AN example would be Usher’s Yeah. I was so into that song…and now…I can’t remember the last time I played it. It’s on my iPod. It’s waiting for me. Wondering why I haven’t called. But, sorry Yeah, I’ve moved on. Maybe you should too.

Although now I’m a little sad to know that I’ll soon drop MOves Like Jaggar like a bad habit. Ah well, I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. Ain’t love grand! Play it again, iTunes!!!

Where Did the Night Go?

Day 23

I don’t know what happened. I swear it was 9:00pm a few seconds ago. Now it’s almost midnight. I can honestly say I did nothing constructive in that time. I still have to wash the dishes, I still have work to do on the next Kingdom Comedy, and I still have to write this blog.

So what happened? YouTube! Damn you, YouTube. You made me time travel into the future. Not even the cool future with flying cars and robot butlers. This future has a bunch of work to do and no sleep. Stupid YouTube.

Hey…another WatchMojo video…

Getting Close

Day 22

I’m nearing the end of the editing process of the next Kingdom Comedy. I gotta confess, I’m pretty excited about this one.

I”m hoping people like it. I’m surprised how much work needed to go into this. Makes me respect the people who make the actual thing that I’m parodying a lot more.

Was that cryptic enough? Well just stick around. If all goes to plan, the next Tim Babb’s Kingdom Comedy will drop on September 30th. In the meantime, why not catch up on the old ones?

Here’s Your Stupid Blog!!!

September 21st, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Day 21

It’s always hard to write one of these blogs on the day we record TANcast. I feel like I’ve already said anything I needed to. I’ve just posted it so why are you hassling me?

Oh just because I PROMISED to write a blog every day this month you expect me to actually DO that?

That’s so typical of you. Always expecting me to fulfill my promises.

Well fine! I wrote a blog. You happy?! It’s short, it’s awful, and it’s a pointless waste of your time! How do you feel about that?!

…oh. ALL my blogs are a pointless waste of your time? Fair enough.

Trapped in the Water Closet

September 20th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Day 20

So I’m writing this blog while on the toilet. No…not in a gross way. I’m sitting here waiting for my son to fall asleep.

You see, I was shaving while my wife was putting him down and I didn’t finish fast enough. In fact, I stupidly shut the door to minimize the sounds of my shaving routine. The problem is, the door squeaks loudly and will disrupt his process of calming down and falling asleep. And so, I wait…

8:19 – My son is crying because he thrashed around in bed and hit his head. That’s why we don’t thrash around in bed, kid. Guess I’ll tear up that Mensa membership application when I get out of here.

8:24 – Now my son is counting to 12 over and over again. It’s very cute…usually. Right now it has the reverse effect of counting sheep, it’s keeping him awake longer.

8:31 – Now my son is slapping his feet on the wall like he’s trying to reenact Gene Kelly’s ceiling dance from Royal Wedding (look it up)

8:37 – I think he may actually be settling down. OOH!!! I just heard a yawn. I may get sprung from my bathroom prison soon.

8:39 – He’s so quiet, I can hear his iPod “Bedtime” playlist. Currently the music from Soarin’ Over California. When he’s finally tall enough to go on this, he’s gonna nod off immediately.

8:43 – Still hear him tossing and turning. I think I’ll watch an episode of Doctor Who while I’m here.

8:44 – Well, forget that. I don’t have my headphones and there’s no step between loud enough to be heard through the door and total silence. *sigh* Time to cruise Facebook.

12:39 – I got into a back and forth with my cousin on Facebook and then realized my son had fallen asleep. I was so excited, I forgot to update this blog. Well, I’m out of the bathroom and in my own bed. Nighty night. See you next blog.

High 5 Epic Rap Battles of History

September 19th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Day 19

I only discovered the YouTube series Epic Rap Battles of History a few months ago, but I’ve jumped in with both feet. I love these videos. They’re funny, the beats are good, and their production values are very impressive. I’ve seen them all and I love most of them but I thought I’d count down my High 5 favorite Epic Rap Battles of History (Sadly since it’s only 5, I had to leave Doctor Who/Doc Brown and Vader/Hitler in the dust…sorry fellas)

Warning, these videos do contain some rough language…and serious ear worms! Read the rest of this entry »

Why The World Doesn’t Need Man of Steel

September 18th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Day 18

For some random reason, I was looking up the box office totals for Monsters University tonight. I noticed it is sitting right behind Man of Steel in terms of highest grossers this year (domestic). Man of Steel made $291,033,976 and Monsters University made $265,455,314.

So then I decided to see how much Superman Returns made vs. Man of Steel. Turns out Superman Returns only made $200,081,192. But then, that was way back in 2006. Adjusted for inflation, Superman Returns made $249,261,500.

So they replaced all the actors and the director, tore the mythology down and rebuilt it and got rid of one of the most iconic and beautiful music scores in motion picture history…and they only made 34 million more at the box office? Not to mention Man of Steel had to use IMAX and 3D surcharges to get to that figure where as Superman Returns did it with good old fashioned 2D screens.

Hmm seems totally worth it, right?

Here Age Relives Fond Memories of the Past

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Part 17

For those of you just joining us, welcome aboard. This blog is a continuation from yesterday where I was recounting my experience at Disneyland’s 50th anniversary kick off celebration. When we last left our hero (since I’m writing this, our hero is me), I had just re-entered the park on May 4th for the “Homecoming Party.” We had just been directed down Main Street and ushered into Frontierland (where yet more free food awaited us). For the entirety of the walk down Main Street, the celebrities were on one side and the rest of the media was on the other…but once we got into Frontierland, we were all mixed in together. I got to rub elbows with Gina Davis, Michael Eisner, Kelsey Grammar (sadly still limping from his fall), Leonard Maltin (before I’d heard of the Leonard Maltin game)…and a big thrill for me…Pierce Brosnan!

Ah, that quality disposable camera film

Remember When

September 16th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

30 Days and 30 Blogs
Day 16

WARNING: This blog is long and ends with a “to be continued”

Editing and posting the latest Kingdom Comedy has reminded me that I don’t believe I’ve ever documented my experience at Disneyland’s 50th birthday celebration kick off event. I’ve talked about it in bits and pieces here and there, but I thought it’d be a good idea to get it all down in one place. It was easily one of my top 3 best trips to Disneyland ever. (And that’s saying something) Because I was “media,” I got the VIP treatment…and it was pretty darn sweet. Not even my trip to Club 33 can compare to how sweet this was. So if you’d like to get lost with me in a sea of Disneyland awesomeness, read on…
