I installed XBMC on my “Media Computer” this weekend. Pretty cool app, specially for free. It can scan movies on your computer and pull down all sorts of movie information such as trailers, movie posters, actors etc. It did pull in some wrong info for some anime and foreign movies I had on my computer but that is probably because I didn’t pick the right database for it to search. Also for the anime series I have, it just named them all the same name. So i can’t quickly tell if it is episode one or episode fifty-five. One thing I really like with XBMC is there is a script that will fetch Apple Trailers for you to watch. I should say I love watching trailers, sometimes they are better then the actual movie.

There is also something called Boxee, which is currently in Alpha. I am excited about that because it can pull in Hulu, CBS, CNN and some other sources. Now if they could somehow pull in videos from all the networks that offer their TV shows online. That would be the killer app and I may cancel my cable for that. They are currently in Alpha testing and it is invite only, which you can sign up for but their site says it can take a few weeks to get your invite. Currently they only support Mac, Apple TV and Linux but Windows version is suppost to hit this fall.

In case you are curious about my home entertainment setup. I have the Samsung 40″ TOC 1080p tv and that is hooked up to Acer X1200. I actually really like the Acer x1200. It has an HDMI and is pretty cheap at $500. You can check out the specs in the link above. If I were to get it now, then I would get the Acer X3200 with Blue-Ray (I also have an Xbox 360, Slim PS2, Game Cube, Dreamcast, Gameboy DS and an out of comission modded Xbox).

That is how Technology is, soon as you get something, they come out with the new model that has more features for a little bit more or sometimes the same prices and the item you got drops down in pirce. Technology is a cruel mistress.

Quite a few TANflicks this week. The boys discuss Zach and Miri Make a Porno (again), Quantum of Solace, Star Trek XI, The Watchmen, JCVD, Madagascar 2, Soul Men, and then pitch a great idea for What Not to Wear…the Movie!

Tim pines the waning popularity of the Muppets, the boys puzzle over Steampunk, Tim mkaes smoe splling errrrors (eat it, Andy), and you’ll find out that James Lipton is a PIMP. Then they try and read some TANmail, muse over Barack Obama’s “Blackness,” show what sore losers they are, and finally fumble through another interminably long sign off.

Sorry this episode is so late, but good things come to those who wait…unfortunately, so does this piece of crap.

This episode the TANboys debate the merits of cats vs dogs, offend a new minority, give their post election wrap up, try to understand stupid Americans, and introduce the world to “TAN-ing.”

Plus they wet your whistle for Quantum of Solace, Noah talks Guy Richie, Andy tells the tale of the constipated baby, and Tim has some demands for his vasectomy. They also talk about CSI: Dominatrix, Fraggle Rock, renters blues, and return to the topic of angry wives.

And before the show can end, Andy has to tell one more story.

First off the good news…

Congratulations America…you finally got one right! I just wish my dad had lived to see this day. I can just imagine sitting on the couch with him this January and watching Barack get sworn in. I will have to appreciate the moment for both of us.

But as proud as I am of America, I am almost equally disappointed in California. It’s looking like Prop 8 is going to pass.

It’s the TANcast post-Halloween/Pre-Election “Special”.

Only a few days left…vote once a day at PodcastAwards.com. TANcast is nominated under “comedy.”

This week’s show starts off with so misogyny, deals with the pitfalls of gambling, angry wives, the pros and cons of the economic crisis (goodbye Mervyns, Circuit City, Good Guys, and CompUSA).

Next, the TANboys get into the “spirit” of the holiday with some Halloween TANtales about baby costumes, the curse of Crocs, serial killers in the workplace, Stephen’s Haunted Holiday, the boring adventures of old hallowieners, and tales of pussy (cats).

Then comes TANcast Full election coverage (full of crap, full of misinformation and full of themselves). The TANboys cover Schwarzenegger’s Predator-sized “Twins,” John McCain on SNL, Dennis Kucinich’s hot wife, the ballot that baffled Babb, Keith Olbermann, the Anti-O’Reilly, and we tell California as loud as we can…

Vote NO on Prop 8!

Before they’re done they review some movies (or “TANflicks”): Religulous, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and Saw V.
