A Joke for Maybe 20 People

April 8th, 2010 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Talk about a video aimed at a small audience….to get the video below you have to have already seen the Star Trek “It’s a Fake/It’s Real” video we talked about a few episodes back AND you have to know about KFC’s new “Double Down” sandwich PLUS you have to know that there is now a vegan version of the sandwich. If you’ve already got all that information, then you might get a chuckle out of this:

I’m sorry…

April 2nd, 2010 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

I know this makes me a hypocrite after my last post
But this picture is hilarious to me:

I know, I know…it adds nothing to the political discourse, it doesn’t even have anything to do with Palin and her personality or opinions, and it makes me look like an immature asshole for re-posting it.

…but, damn it, I got me a good laugh outta that bad boy.

The Health Care “Debate” Continues

April 2nd, 2010 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Okay so yesterday was April Fool’s (as one of the “fools” on this site demonstrated with his usual flair and skill) I was keeping things low key yesterday and joining fan pages and groups that I disagree with on Facebook. For instance, I joined Sarah Palin’s fan page as well as Glen Beck’s. Ha ha! Funny to me and a few of my pals who got the joke. I didn’t post anything on these groups because I wasn’t doing it to start shit, just to make myself laugh. So I went to resign from the groups after midnight and when I got to the last one, a group that purported to be a group that was against the health care bill, I read some of the most ignorant hateful shit! A small sampling:

“Wish Obama had Micheal Jackson’s Docter…”

“Someone needs to walk up to Obama, look him straight in the eyes, and bitchslap him right across the face.”

“That what happen’s when you start letting FRIED CHICKEN eating mother f er’s run the country ???”

Now in fairness, a number of the group’s members posted disapproving comments on that last one. But the other two had many “likes” and there were plenty of similarly themed comments posted as replies to much more reasoned posts and links. It was enough to make me post the following on my way out:

“I joined this group to be ironic for April Fool’s Day. After reading some posts, I feel bad for you. A few of you have some very valid and interesting points that could really make the debate more productive…but you seem to be surrounded by crying babies who wouldn’t like Obama or the democrats no matter what they did or didn’t do. Good luck with your little group, kids.”

Someone decided to post a reply saying “it’s april 2nd.” Since I had left the group, I couldn’t reply to her so I sent her a message:

“I joined the group on April Fool’s Day. I removed myself today.

Have a great life.
-Tim”

To which she responded:
“already got one… hope the view is nice with your head up your bum =)”

Really? REALLY?! My head is up my bum? Didn’t I just say that this group had “some very valid and interesting points that could really make the debate more productive?” I know I did, actually, that’s why I just quoted it. Way to pick an argument where there wasn’t one. Well, whatever, that was just one comment it’s not like…what? there are more comments on my post now? aw crap… Read the rest of this entry »

A letter from the N in TANcast

April 1st, 2010 . by Noah

I’ve been sitting on this for a little while, not sure how I wanted to say it. Its been fun and strange and amazing, but my wife and I have decided that its time to say goodbye to TANcast and focus 100% on our family.

I told Tim and Andy last week, and we’ve been talking about “What Happens Next” since then. They both agreed I should be the one to break the news.

The site won’t move and the show won’t change it’s name. I will still be the “N in TANcast” through TANcast 100 (triple-digits!). I will probably do a guest shot every once in a while after that, but from TANcast 101 on it will be Tim and Andy’s show. Andy said he won’t be turning off my access to the site or to email, so I may log in and post something when I have time and something to say.

They are already talking to a few different people about being regular guest hosts and I’m looking forward to listening to it every week.

I’m a little sad, but like the breakup of the TAN House, it had to happen some time.

Tim Babb’s March Blog Madness: Day 31

First off, thanks to everyone who’s been reading my blogs everyday. Special thanks to those of you who’ve been posting your favorites on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Thanks to you folks this little project was a success. Leave a comment as to what your favorite blog(s) were so I can try and expand on those topics in future blogs.

But today is the last day of March so my blogs are going to slow down a bit…because April is chalk full of comedy for me! From Oakland, to Hollywood, to Vegas, to Santa Barbara, to Gilroy, and Morgan Hill…I’ve got a lot of great shows booked every week in the month of April. Check out the posters Read the rest of this entry »

More ID4? IDK

March 30th, 2010 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Tim Babb’s March Blog Madness: Day 30

So according to this article, Will Smith has signed on to star in TWO sequels to Independence Day. I guess they’re going to shoot them back to back like Back to the Future, Matrix, and Pirates of the Caribbean did (has that strategy EVER produced movies that most people liked?).

But here’s the quite in the article I have to take exception to:

“…the much-beloved epic still has a place in the hearts of both casual and hardcore moviegoers.”

I’m sorry, but WHAT?! This movie is not a “much-beloved epic,” it was a great event movie that falls apart upon closer look. We’ve talked about this on the show before, but from the amazing laptop that can interface with alien technology, to Will Smith’s exoskeleton rattling bare handed punch, to the dog that survives a fireball that destroys Los Angeles…there is a truck load of crap that does not need to be fleshed out into 1 moer movie much less 2.

How much story could they possibly have to tell that they need two whole movies for? Earth is decimated at the end of the first one. If another group of aliens come to invade, Earth is fucked…end of movie.

Plus the director of this is the same genius who gave us Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. From the looks of things he got lucky with the first ID4 and has been trying in vein to move on to other things and now after failing repeatedly, he’s going back to the well. Just stop, Roland Emmerich, you gave it a shot…you had a great ride, but it’s over. Let sleeping aliens lie.

Captain EO in 3D!!!

March 29th, 2010 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Tim Babb’s March Blog Madness: Day 29

So I’ve talked plenty about the return of Captain EO to Disneyland. (I even made a Kingdom Comedy video about it) But what if you can’t get to Disneyland to see it in glorious 3D? Fortunately there is me and my tinkering with Photoshop. Look at the picture below (you can click on it to see it full size) then “relax” your eyes and you will see a 3D image. (Kinda like those “Magic Eye” pictures they had in the 90’s…”It’s not a schooner it’s a sail boat.”)
