What Happened to the Saddest Boy Ever?

November 21st, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Update: I don’t know and neither do you. Let’s buy some t-shirts…

Apologies to anyone coming here via a well-meaning link you found on Reddit or Facebook or whatever.

Somehow a random “I wonder what ever happened” post by one of our hosts turned into an free-for-all of Sherlock-wannabes using our blog to name random people who were demonstrably NOT the boy in question.

We gave several warnings to stop naming names, then one little asshole had to try to be a big man by talking tough on the internet. Now the whole blog post is gone and comments are closed, leaving Aaron extra free time to go fuck his goat some more, or whatever they do for fun in Hollywood, FL.

Raymond Moses did not close his camp down. It was operating without a license & shut down over abuse allegations. So I have to wonder why we really cannot find this child/man now. Although I don’t think he went to this camp due to his age at that time.
Here is the excerpt from what I found with the link to the whole story surrounding these boots camps.
    Burke Country Boot Camp
A highly publicized boot camp in Burke County, North Carolina, operated by a former US marine, was closed in June 2000 after social workers substantiated an allegation that a camper was handcuffed for three days and officials determined that the facility was providing foster care without a license.

The camp received nationwide attention thanks to more than ten appearances on the Jenny Jones television talk-show by its founder, former marine Raymond Moses. Kids from as far away as California were sent to the camp. The youngsters slept outside in two-person tents surrounded by a chain-link fence. The girls had bathrooms, but the boys did not. The camp had no license and was subject to no government oversight.

Raymond Moses did not close his camp, at least not the one referred to in the show. It was operating without a license for foster care as well as abuse allegations.
Here is an excerpt from the article I read. At the bottom I will include the link to the entire article dealing with boot camps.

Perhaps all the hoopla from this viral video will produce some results, unless he is in jail, or worse.

I did some digging around on the web and found out that the drill sgt in the tape as of 2013 owned a bar in morganton, NC with his wife called the Icehouse Bar. They have a facebook page but little traffic on it and the reviews are not the best on the web, stating that the owner is a jerk.

  5. AdrianneNo Gravatar Says:

Is this not the drill instructor? Jenny Jones states on her ask me anything on her site’s bio that she doesn’t know and doesn’t have access to the whole episode or the names of guests, as the company she worked for has/had all that information. I know I’m fascinated and curious. Surely others have asked? Your post is the only one that seems to have any response at all on it. I’m apparently too chicken to message the guy on Facebook right now to even ask if that’s the same person. Maybe in a few days or writing the company that owns the episodes… the fact that her blog says she doesn’t know when the seemingly easiest thing to do is ask Mr Moses makes me really nervous…

  6. Jess TrudeauNo Gravatar Says:

Thanks for the FB link Adrianne. I find it rather odd that no one from the Jenny Jones show would have some kind of a record of this episode especially with all the publicity it has gotten over time. I couldn’t put the brakes on my curiosity so I sent a message to the FB account you provided. Really hope I get a response, any response at all.

PS OOPS , the double post demon showed up. Sorry for that.

A zoning issue caused the camp to close in 2001, only because he tried to get a permit for the camp and the county didn’t know how to categorize the permit. He opened right back up after that. My son went there and we live nearby. The camp was open after that until 2013. Raymond did a great job with the teens and many parents and residents who went to his camp are thankful for his dedication to handle teens that no one else can deal with.

  8. momma dNo Gravatar Says:

no that fb link is not the Raymond Moses that ran About Face Boot Camp…I worked for him up until 2004 and yes there were allegations…but nothing proven…and the boys did have a bathroom…The Raymond Moses I knew back then was a good man with a good heart…he had nothing but good intentions for those kids…he would never hurt any of them. he was strict but fair, loved his family and always took the best of care with the kids in his charge.

Here is a link to contacting Telepictures, which is part of Warner Brothers. I’d suggest including just the basics, Jenny Jones, name of Seargant, trying to find the kid can they access their files in storage. They can, it’s a matter of will they go to where they are stored and search for it. Though we had the internet, so there will be stuff accessible on the computer.

  11. CherylNo Gravatar Says:

It didn’t post my link, let’s try again.

  12. AlisaNo Gravatar Says:

    Thanks for all the info.
How do we contact telepictures? I went on their website, but I didn’t see a “contact us” option. I, too, feel such a burden for this boy…now young adult.

  13. AlisaNo Gravatar Says:

Thanks Cheryl…I guess I didn’t refresh my page when I posted. Thanks…I’m sure I’m not the only person who will try anything in order to find out.

  14. Jess TrudeauNo Gravatar Says:

I feel I must clarify some of my comments. I do not know Raymond Moses therefore I cannot say whether or not he was a good man. I can however go with my gut from seeing him on TV and that tells me he is most likely an awesome man with an equally awesome heart. He did not run these places alone so my concern would be with other staffers. My only intent is to find some answers to suit my never ending curiosity as to what became of the youngster and I find it rather strange that Jenny Jones would comment that she couldn’t get anyone that could even find a record of that show, meaning the video. I could understand if there were privacy issues but this just makes no sense to me. How can there be nothing? I know there is a lot in storage so perhaps Jenny didn’t want to investigate any further.Time consuming? Costly?

I’m so relieved that I’m not the only one so moved by this video clip and wondering hard at how the little guy made out. Thank you for trying to get word.

  20. HannahNo Gravatar Says:

Just today I found that video and it tugged at my heart and I started to Google. Very interested to hear what has become of that little boy…

  21. DebbyNo Gravatar Says:

I want to know why this is so messed up. Maybe the boy will ce forward. Too bad Moses won’t clarify. You would think he would remember the details and maybe would have kept in touch with the boy.

  22. Lorraine RiveraNo Gravatar Says:

    Curious myself. Prayers…

  23. JessNo Gravatar Says:

This wreaks of some kind of cover up. Like another poster stated “Why hasn’t the “boy” himself come forward”? Why can’t Jenny Jones come up with the name of a child so well received by the viewers? I have to wonder if it is to hide more of what can happen to people after some of her more controversial shows such as this one.
Jonathan Schmitz (born July 18, 1970) is a convicted murderer who, in 1996, was sentenced to prison for 25-50 years.

Schmitz killed Scott Amedure three days after the two men appeared on a March 6, 1995 episode (“Same-Sex Secret Crushes”) of The Jenny Jones Show, in which Amedure indicated that he was sexually attracted to Schmitz.

Schmitz, visibly shaken and embarrassed, stated that he was heterosexual and nervously laughed off the remarks. Because of the killing, the episode never aired, although excerpts were seen on news reports.

Schmitz was convicted in 1996 of second-degree murder and felony firearms. He appealed but was found guilty of the same offenses and the original sentence was handed down again. He is currently imprisoned in the medium-security Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer, Michigan, with an earliest release date of July 1, 2017.

On May 7, 1999 a jury found The Jenny Jones Show and its maker, Time Warner, Telepictures, liable for the death of Amedure, and awarded his family $29.3 million. However, on October 22, 2002, the Michigan Court of Appeals overturned the award, a decision which was later upheld by the Michigan Supreme Court.
    So WHAT ARE THEY HIDING???????

  24. JenNo Gravatar Says:

I remember when this episode originally aired on the Jenny Jones show. I think the child’s name was Cody. That’s all I remember. I hope this somehow helps.

  25. JannahNo Gravatar Says:

I too was moved to tears relating to this little boy. I loved my militant martial arts instructor because he was my father figure. BUT maybe this was staged… Don’t throw eggs at me. I felt the realness too… But maybe it was scripted and that’s why we can’t find him.

  26. AmyNo Gravatar Says:

Has anyone considered that this was a scripted set from the start? A lot of these talk shows set this stuff up for ratings. The reason we may not be able to find information, may simply be there isn’t any.

If you notice in the clip, the mother doesn’t tear up. If my kid had been having issues and said something like that I would have been a teary mess and the drill officer takes him off stage immediately so you can’t see what happens next.

  27. AL OlsonNo Gravatar Says:

I truly hope more information is coming

  28. LaceyNo Gravatar Says:

I am still waiting for an answer to this question. I did check out the Icehouse bar page that someone talked about and there is one picture of the owner, Raymond, and his wife. He bears a strong resemblance to the marine in the video so it is likely that he is the right guy. Here is the link to the picture: https://www.facebook.com/494838387222253/photos/a.501162116589880.109336.494838387222253/621688477870576/?type=3&src=https%3A%2F%2Ffbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-prn2%2Fv%2Ft1.0-9%2F544154_621688477870576_1399296401_n.jpg%3Foh%3D2ae7294c466acbc1fd421384be231582%26oe%3D5462BA6A%26__gda__%3D1416478268_81a4609f05bd29bd3d1d5b4177080d94&size=720%2C959&fbid=621688477870576

Yes, it’s long but it does work, at least right now.

I truly hope nothing horrible has happened and that some one comes up with some new information.

    sincerely,

    Still waiting 🙁

with crap like this we may never know!

  30. jessNo Gravatar Says:

Amy you bring up a very good point!
I never even thought of that but it certainly makes sense. I wondered how is it possible that Jenny Jones states she can`t get any info and no archives on that show never made sense. With the amount of attention this has brought you would think it shouldn’t be too difficult to at least find something, anything, but there is nothing. Your comment makes perfect sense.
Lacey,,that link does not work, says page unavailable. I did have access a long time ago to Raymond`s wifes Facebook page and it didn`t seem like they were getting along, she had made a comment **I just wish he would stop taking my stuff**. If this show wasn`t a set-up then something sure is rotten in the archive dept.

  31. LaceyNo Gravatar Says:

I clicked the link and it too me right to the photo, not sure what happened for you.

  32. AllieNo Gravatar Says:

Did anyone else notice the statement that Raymond Moses appeared on the Jenny Jones show more than 10 times… I’m sorry, Even if it was 100 times, they should be able to find the episode with no problem. This was titled “Boot Camp my Pre-Teen”, so that should narrow it down even more as most of the titles were “Boot Camp My Teen”.

Did Mr. Moses ever respond or say if he remembered the young man or if he ever kept in contact with the boy?

  33. jessNo Gravatar Says:

something is rotten in the state of denmark,,,its bullshit for Jeeny JOnes to say she cant get any info. There is clearly a cover up of some sort

  34. CrystalNo Gravatar Says:

Found someone who said there was a follow-up episode and that the kid went onto big brother. One result from google makes me suspect this is correct: http://www.wfxl.com/news/story.aspx?id=588160

  35. KariNo Gravatar Says:

If Crystal is right this could be his fb page [link removed]

  36. HayleighNo Gravatar Says:

I looked into Kari’s comment and I believe the boy is Cody [last name removed] and the mom is Judy [last name removed].

  37. jessNo Gravatar Says:

You nailed it. That is definitely him. Good detective work :O)

  38. JJNo Gravatar Says:

Hate to burst everyone’s bubble but the timeline doesn’t add up. The FOX news story says Cody [last name removed] turned 16 in 2011 and since The Jenny Jones Show ended in March 2003, the 10-year-old who appeared on the show could not have been Cody as he would have only been 8 at the time.

  39. nikkiNo Gravatar Says:

Did anyone actually ask “cody” what happened in the video..

  40. nikkiNo Gravatar Says:

Or even ask him if it was him in the video

  41. TkNo Gravatar Says:

Looks like he’s doing good – checked out Cody’s FB page – it’s him

  42. Erika LemanskyNo Gravatar Says:

Is this the same boy? He is the only Cody Yearton I have found on Facebook.

  43. Erika LemanskyNo Gravatar Says:

    [link removed]
Here is the moms Facebook page.

  44. Brandi DawnNo Gravatar Says:

I have to agree with JJ. Im not convinced that Cody [last name removed] is the same boy. I am not trying to be negative but I REALLY would like a more definitive answer on the boys well being. The ages and the dates are off by, at the very least, 2 years.
Has anyone messaged Cody [last name removed]? I will, but I dont want to bother him if someone already has. Lets not give up on this until we know for sure its him.

  45. WickIt WomanNo Gravatar Says:

I have messaged both Cody & his mother I am waiting for their reply. I do believe it is is him the mother looks like the same woman and they could have lied about ages.

  46. ChristineNo Gravatar Says:

I just sent him a message on facebook

  47. KimNo Gravatar Says:

Considering the Facebook profiles of both Cody and his mother are friends with each other…should be proof enough that they are indeed the ones that were on the show. He looks like a grown up version of little Cody and his mother looks like an older version of herself. It looks like the show may have stretched the truth a bit with his age but as long as he got on the straight path, that’s all that matters in my opinion.

  48. JennNo Gravatar Says:

Here is some more confirmation. This link is a story about Cody being kicked out of school. Towards the end his mom also writes that she was abandoned with two young kids. This also is proof he had no dad growing up. It also talks about him doing jiu jitzu – also mentioned on his Facebook.

    [link name removed]

  49. BrandieNo Gravatar Says:

Great work everyone! I have been trying to find this boy myself! It def is quite suspicious that they cannot find anything on the episode! It seems as if fney have something to hide!
Hope you guys hear back from him and/or his mother!

  50. litaNo Gravatar Says:

The boy in the video was 8 years old during filming but because it was called boot camp my pre-teen they had to change the age.
