    Thanks for the hillarious shout out and another great episode. Even if it’s slightly late.

    I am now a proud owner of an iPad 2 and experiencing the joy of podcasts at double speed for the first time. Any tips for enriching the experience? I’m loving it so far!

    As for movies I’m looking forward to, I cannot wait for the Hunger Games. 🙂

    Hate mail sent!

    Also ditto to Kiki, I’m looking forward to Hunger Games. Also Brave, Avengers, Hobbit (December, but still).

    Any other Doctor Who fans hear about the new companion? I’m really not excited about her. I was gunning for a male companion, but no go.

    @Lindsey I’m just glad Amelia Pond will be out of my life. Maybe she could do me a favor and mortally injure the current Doctor on her way out. And take her daughter with her. (Yeah, I know I need to get over David Tennant. If I only had more episodes to watch with him, Freema Agyeman, and John Barrowman!)

    @Grace Are you a serving wench? I love a show that doesn’t require me to remember names. (“Greeeeeen!!!”)

    @Jenn nope I’m a merchandise wench =D lol

    @Jenn Matt Smith was my first Doctor (having never seen a lick of DW in my life, I thought I could watch Part 2 of the Pandorica episodes and have an idea of what was going on, nope) and I like him in series 5, but series 6 with River, not so much. I think they rushed the whole River Song thing.

    A return of Harkness would be awesome, the whole plot of Torchwood Miracle Day was screaming for a visit from the Doctor.

  10. JennNo Gravatar Says:

    @Lindsey (Tim, I’m sure you’ll want to get in on this discussion, too!)

    Yes, they did rush the River Song thing. In her earliest appearance (with David Tennant), she gave the impression that she’d be someone the Doctor ran into occasionally throughout his future regenerations, not a woman who would have all her encounters with him packed into a single season. Sure, she can show up again, but we’ve seen their first meeting and their last, so she’ll just be “another companion” from now on.

    Unfortunately, the Doctor could never appear on Torchwood, because he’s a family-entertainment character. I guess the BBC’s not going to change that aspect of Doctor Who, forty years later, just because some adult Americans discovered their funny little sci-fi show.

    I have a really hard time taking Matt Smith seriously. Watching this Doctor and River kiss was just weird — he’s such a goofball. He’s not the first clownish Doctor, and they all have their quirks, but I prefer them a bit more serious. Christopher Eccleston was my first Doctor, and I wish he had stuck around for another season or two. It’s a lot like James Bond — as a teen, I wasn’t very fond of Sean Connery, because Roger Moore was my first encounter with Bond!
