Out of the doorway the bullets rip…
January 12th, 2009 . by Andy (TANcast's #1 Ear-Rapist)Tim mentioned personal crises in a previous post. Here’s some details on mine.
The Bush-flavored economy finally bested me. My company had a huge (like 1/6 gone) “reduction in force” that included several directors and executives and moved around whole organizational structures. It also cost me and several people I work with (oops: worked with) our jobs.
I’m conflicted. I like the people still there (even the ones who I’m pretty sure picked me to cut) and I want the company to succeed. On the other hand, now I have to go find me a new jobby job.
Ah, well…
As the Bard himself said: Dadada, da, da. Another one bites the dust.

Hey, good luck Andy.
I can see you getting another job sorted in no time anyways :]
As you’re conflicted
I’ll be the bad side for you…
“Fuck you guys!!”
:]
Have a nice TANweek.

Man, I feel bad for you. Good luck with getting a new job.

Good luck getting a new job Andy. I’ll be on the hunt with you soon. *sigh* Damn growing up, lol

Shit man. Sorry to hear that.
As Tupac once said, Keep Yo Head Up.
Good luck Andy, the TANiverse is here for you if you need to have a good cry.

My dad lost his job in June, and he finally got a new one last week. Right after that, the job recruiter person he was working with started calling more often with more jobs…so I guess that means things are starting to pick up.
Anyway, it for sure sucks, but I’m sure things will turn around soon. Slowly but surely it’ll get better.

I feel your pain. Literally. But hey, you can stay at home and take care of your kid, like me (in a month). 🙂

I sympathize. It seems epidemic. You hear about people losing their jobs in the abstract all the time, but it seems lately people that I know, or know of-real people are losing their jobs in droves.
The job hunt sucks big time, but here’s hoping something turns up that’s even better. Man, that sounds like a cliche.
Best of luck to you…

As Extra Negro Noah (like TANlaughs) might say, “Dat’s fucked up, cuz.”
Here’s some positive mojo your way to find a new job that might be better paying or more rewarding or closer to home or near a really, really good burger joint.

So my wife got a call from her mom last night to say that she had just lost her job with Whirlpool.
I agree with xapnomapcase, it doesn’t seem so abstract right now when I can list a group of people I actually know that have lost jobs.
As a Pastry Chef, I’m just hoping people will want to eat cake to make themselves feel better about being unemployed.

They laid off 300 people the other day at the shipyard I work at last week. I’m worried.

Good luck, Andy – you’ll surely find something, because everyone knows – you’re always fucking right.

That really blows dead toads!
Hoping you have minimum downtime, and tell the family (inclucing the cats) I said “chins up!”

Sorry to hear the news!

I am sorry to hear about your job hon. Just means something is better on the horizon for you. These rosey glasses I wear are very convenient. 🙂 But I mean. Only the good for our Andy.
