You Asked For It, Emma…

Day 20

After yesterday’s blog, another old high school friend of mine, Emma, wrote:

How come I never got any gems like this? Since I know both of the girls you wrote the other letters to. Or maybe you did write me and I forgot. Probably because I had a jerk of a boyfriend, that I should have dumped long before I did.

Well “good” news Emma, your boyfriend at the time did not stop me from writing you too! Fortunately, it’s not as creepy as yesterday’s letter. But it’s still plenty laughable. Here we go…

Dear Emma,

It’s been 1 month, 3 weeks, 2 days, 19 hours, and 34 minutes since my last Emma hug.

I didn’t say it wasn’t at all creepy, I just said it wasn’t AS creepy. Read the rest of this entry »

Tim, Shut Up! SHUT UP!!!

Day19

I’m not sure if we’ll have time to read another of my old letters on the next episode, so I found another one that I can make fun of in blog form. Now, in my heart of hearts I’d like to believe I didn’t send this. I’d like to believe I typed this up, read over it and said, “Nah…only a crazy person shares these thoughts with another human being.”

…but I fear that I did. I think I printed this out, put it in an envelope, and sent it off to this poor, unsuspecting lady. What did she do to deserve this? Nothing. She was just very nice and extremely cute. Unfortunately for her, the gal from the Star Trek letter a few days back told me that if I’d asked this gal out in high school, she would have gone out with me. First off, Star Trek gal had nothing to base that on. Second of all, even if it were true, that ship had sailed. High school was over. Me and the young lady from today’s letter were in college 800 miles apart. But that didn’t stop young Tim from making a complete and total fool of himself. Enough stalling…time for me to start cringing…

Dear Amy,

I was watching the moon rise up over the foothills last night and I saw your face.

Mother of all things great and small! No. Please tell me I did not start off this letter like that. Please tell me that someone hacked the past and is playing a joke on me. No? Ugh! That is frightening. Maybe the next thing I wrote was, “HA! Just kidding. Wouldn’t that be a dumb thing to say at the top of the letter? Anyway, how are classes going?”

Yeah that’s probably what I wrote. Surely I didn’t go on about this for a whole paragraph… Read the rest of this entry »

I Follow @BarackObama…For The Wrong Reasons

October 18th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Day 18

I’m not usually one to participate in “follow Friday” on Twitter. But I’m using my blog today as an endorsement to follow @BarackObama on Twitter.

I know, many of you reading this are not fans of the president. That’s not the point.I don’t recommend following him on Twitter for the content of his tweets. You’ll basically hear the same stuff on the news. I’m recommending following Obama because he is a lightning rod for the most insane Twitter comments I’ve seen. Yes, there’s the obvious right/left debating that goes on in response to his tweets…but then there’s the delicious random crazy people who love to spout their crazy to the highest office in the land. Here are just 3 recent examples… (Warning: Foul language ahead, it IS the internet, after all)

I Swore I’d Never Do It Again, But…

October 17th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Day 17

…I saw Gravity in 3D! First off, the movie was great. Plenty has already been said about the acting and the visuals (which are both fantastic) but has anyone mentioned how good the score is? I thought it was great! IF you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend seeing Gravity. It’s a great film. Sandra acts her ass off.

But do I recommend seeing it in 3D? That’s the question. Those who know me, know I am not a fan of the new 3D fad. It’s never really added to the movie for me and it just blends in about 10 minutes so I don’t even notice it anymore. But this move was constantly doing things that took advantage of the 3D without doing gimmicky “Jaws 3D” sorts of things. I noticed cool little 3D effects throughout the movie.

…and yet I still wouldn’t recommend spending the extra money for 3D. The only reason I did it was to not wait an extra hour to see the movie. The 3D wasn’t worth the extra money, but the movie was…so I’m calling it a wash. Speaking of wash, gotta use that hour I saved to wash the dishes (and empty the trash, and…ugh other crap). Toodles.

Star Wars: The Trek – Part 3

October 16th, 2013 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Day 16

As you can see from the title, this blog is a “part 3” so, yuo’re probably going to want to read part 1 and part 2 before you start. For those of you who refuse to read, here’s a brief recap of what’s come so far. This is a script I wrote 18 years ago combining Star Wars and Star Trek. In part 1, Luke, Han, Leia, and the rest of the main Star Wars gang chased space pirates into a time vortex. In part 2, they met up with Kirk, Spock and the crew of the Starship Enterprise. There was a big space battle that re-activated the time portal. As we re-enter the action, Luke’s X Wing has been destroyed, but the Enterprise has safely beamed Luke, Spock, McCoy and Artoo over to the disabled pirate ship to investigate. Meanwhile Han, Leia, Lando and C3P0 wait on the nearby Millennium Falcon. Yeah, it makes marginally more sense if you read the first parts. Let’s get back to the action…

Star Wars: The Trek – Part 2

Day 15

This is a continuation of yesterday’s blog. It’s part two of my fan script I wrote many years ago combining Star Wars and Star Trek. When we left the story, Luke, Han, Leia, Lando, Chewie, C3P0, and R2D2 were chasing space pirates who had stolen a time machine. The pirates had activated the time machine and created an “energy hole” in space (Did I mention I was a teenager when I wrote this?). Our heroes were following them inside. Let’s see how the story progresses, shall we?

Star Wars: The Trek – Part 1

Day 14

The following is from a script I wrote as a teenager which I have only recently discovered in my old files. It was my attempt to make a movie combing the Star Wars trilogy (there were no prequels when I wrote this), the original Star Trek crew (there was no J.J. Abrams when I wrote this), and the crew from Star Trek the Next Generation. I only got as far as the first third of the movie…basically setting everything up. I never finished it, nor do I even remember how I was going to end it. But I thought I’d share as far as little Tim Babb got.

I present it to you as I wrote it, which means it’s full of spelling and grammatical errors, it’s in all caps for some reason, and it’s marvelously simplistic. Enjoy!

What A Card

Day 13

Another day, another dip into the vault. This time I found a birthday card that two of my friends made for me. It was so awesome, I had to share. First the cover.

And now we open the card for the M. Night Shyamalan-esque twist… Read the rest of this entry »

This Blog Sucks

Day 12

This is a pretty lame blog BUT I finished editing TANcast and posted it. That’s worth something isn’t it?

No? Well, I’ll see what I can do tomorrow. PLUS Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I’ll be posting another “treasure” from my digital vault. I wrote the beginning part of a script that combined the original Star Trek cast, the Next Generation Star Trek cast, and the Star Wars cast (the original trilogy, of course). I’m going to split it up into three days so it’s not one big long read like the Star Trek letter.

So look forward to that next week.
