Hey y’all, just wanteed to provide some extra info on the whole tr*p discussion as someone who is affected by such rhetoric.

First things first: that word, along with “tr*nny” are slurs, not simply pejoratives. The reason that word is so dangerous to trans women is because it implies an intentional deception as mentioned. That being said it’s less “someone with a penis” and moreso “I was tricked into having sex with a ‘man’ and now i feel threatened”. This ties in to the whole “gay/trans panic” defense that lets (typically) men get away with assault or even murder of trans women. Transphobia at large is a huge issue but transmisogyny in particular is exceptionally dangerous. I know the purpose of the joke was to state that it’s not okay but I wanted to provide some extra info about *why* it’s so dangerous and unacceptable and why that word, while equally offensive as the other t word, is exceptionally dangerous to use. There are places and people that use it in a way that’s, in a sense, “reclaimed” but it’s typically more often found in gross fetishizing content.

To be clear, I’m not upset with y’all, I just wanted to provide an opportunity to learn more about an issue from someone directly impacted by it. Looking forward to listening to more!
