Just a Bit Inside

The time is coming near for TANcast: The PREPisode…the episode that lets any new listeners in on the many inside jokes and references we do every week on TANcast. But, as usual, we need your help…
As we mentioned on episode 97, we’re going to do a “High Five” count down of categories of inside jokes. As we list off each category, we’ll give examples of inside jokes form that category. That’s where you come in. We need your suggestions for inside jokes that fall into one of these 5 categories:
5) The Boys (Tim Andy & Noah)-This would be the place for any characteristics, back story, or habits of the boys that get referenced a lot.
4) Friends & Family– This category will be all about friends we mention on the show.
3) Media– We reference a lot of things from other podcasts, to movies, to TV…this is the place for the ones that stick out the most.
2) Past Segments-We often refer to jokes we’ve done in past episodes. But if the next episode is your first, you would have no idea what we’re talking about. This is the category where we’ll re-cap those bits.
1) Surprise-Not going to tell you what the #1 category is. After all, it would be pretty lame if we made a whole episode that had nothing for our long time listeners to enjoy, wouldn’t it?
Got any suggestions? Don’t worry…you don’t even have to decide what category they fall in (or even if it doesn’t fall into any of them…we’ll make it work). Just leave a comment with something(s) you think people need to know to get the most out of TANcast.

#1) Pigeons! I’ve listened to every episode at least twice, and I still occasionally forget the origin of pigeons. Granted, for me, that signifies it’s time to listen to them all again. But that’s why I’m the #1 fan. lol
#2) Superman rape. Granted, this is mostly because it’s my favorite topic TANcast has ever done, it’s also something you guys mention from time to time that most people… won’t get.
#3) Actually, I can’t think of a #3. I’ve listened so often, most of the inside jokes will still make me laugh, but I don’t actually realize that people won’t get them if they haven’t listened to earlier episodes.
#4) Even though you don’t really mention it, maybe throw in a “So…. Indiana Jones” just so I have a reason to giggle. lol

(side note: Mike, I’ve listened to them all way too many times myself, and I’m not sure they ever fully explain the pigeon story. they start referencing it early on, and it’s mentioned in episode 2 but they never say “this is what tim lied about!” and explain. they just say he lied. at least that’s what I’ve gathered from my research. and my recent listening habits have had the sole purpose of discovering the full pigeon story…nothin yet.)

-You may want to explain your Mean Dawg things that you steal (Such as TANcast movie review, TANcast meltdown, and the Iran, and such as.) Just cuz you do the little voice thing and since Mean Dawg doesn’t exist anymore and I know I sure as hell never listened to it (am I even using the correct spelling of dawg?) and y’all hardly talk about it these days that could be cool to explain? I dunno.
-If I’m not mistaken it’s been a good long while since Geoff has been on, and as such newer listeners (like, really new ones) may not know who the hell Geoff and Miranda are. Ya feel me?
-Superman rape certainly needs to be touched on. (tee hee. touched on.) And yes please throw in one more So…Indiana Jones just for nostalgia’s sake.
That’s all I got for now but as I continue listening obsessively (I don’t think I’ve listened to music for weeks) I’m sure I’ll think of more shit!

Alissa, I could be wrong but I think they did tell the story early on. Or at least started to. Now if that got sidetracked by one of the “So…. Indiana Jones” type things, I don’t remember. But I’m pretty sure they at least started to tell the story. Although, I could be wrong.

Mike, they did start to tell it, but basically all they got to was Tim going “You know I heard that from another comedian, right?” and then Andy got mad and kinda referenced what the homeless guy said and then they moved on to something else. I think something Noah brought up.

The full pigeons line is actually said in the first episode. Andy attributes it to “his favorite homeless person.” Several episodes later is where I rock his world and tell him it’s a joke I heard a comedian tell once.

It has only been alluded to a couple of times, and I think that the whole story has now been told twice, but the “Tim drops girl on head” story is surely a must.

A long time ago … You had that wacky “Ham” youtube video. I went looking for it today, but can’t seem to find it. It still haunts me – worse than any of the poo stories or thoughts of Andy wearing crocs. I dont recall why you had it on the podcast , but I wish I could have those 10 minutes back …. please.

The pigeon story has definitely been explained or otherwise I wouldn’t understand it. But yes it should be in the Prepisode.
I’m pretty sure no-one’s ever said why OG Steph is called OG Steph. “Old Girlfriend” is my best guess, but whose?
Vote +1 for the girlfriend dropped on her head story.
Some kind of explanation of why Tim is so obsessed with Disney might help. Or even just an up-front statement of this fact.

Andrew, I had trouble with “OG” too. I think that you’ll find that it refers to “Original Gangsta”.
