The Wikipedia article on Risk Compensation theory has a lot of other examples similar to the talk about safer playgrounds!
Also Tim at the end reminded me a lot of the bad faith trump voters saying “wow the left is so rude now I’m going to vote for Trump!” Like no dude you were going to already you didn’t just change your entire worldview and position on minority rights, wealth policy, and abortion because some socialist threw a milkshake at a bigot.
