Why Does My Rice Never Cook Right?!

Day 8:
So the other day I’m at the store and I buy some instant brown rice (Yeah, that’s how I roll, son). Nothing too fancy, just the store brand.
Unfortunately I have thrown away the box…otherwise I would have gotten a better picture of these instructions.
If you can’t tell, that first line (circled in red) actually says, “Open box.” NOW you tell me! All this time I’ve been trying to cook the rice like this…

Next time you’re at the store, look at a can of Easy Cheese, you know, the spray cheese in a can?
First line of the instructions:
“For best results, remove cap.”

I love it when Peanut Butter Jars have the warning “contains peanuts” on them (airline peanuts back in the day used to have this too.)
