Rejected by Cracked: Classic Movie Video Games
April 20th, 2011 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)Another Photoshop contest at cracked.com, another chance for Tim to whine about his entries that weren’t chosen. This time the theme was classic movies made into video games. I actually had 2 entries make the list but I had so many more that didn’t. Did they deserve to? Well that’s difficult question to answer…unless you’re me, and then the answer is yes.
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
C’mon…Oregon Trail reference? WINNING!
The Birds
Ok, so they already had a birds entry on the list this week. But mine’s really gross. Aren’t there points for that? (I’m being told there are not, in fact, any points for that. …ok that’s a lie. I’m not being told anything, I’m sitting by myself in my living room. *sigh*)
Kramer vs Kramer
This wasn’t the most amazing job on the world…but I was amazed no one thought of it. Plus I added their kid watching the action on the right side of the screen.
Blair Witch Project
Yeah…I knew this one was stretching the limits of what you’d call a “classic” movie, but the idea of a video game where you couldn’t see what was going on because of the crappy camera work made me laugh.
Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
I thought this one fit the theme perfectly. A great movie…but how do you make a playable game out of it? Perhaps like this? (Perhaps not)
Spartacus
I thought the idea that you play as the bad guys was funny. Also, there actually is a Spartacus and a Tony Curtis (whatever his character’s name was)…that’s dedication, friends.
The Towering Inferno
This one isn’t amazing either, but I just HAD to get an Elevator Action reference in. That game was a classic.
Duck Soup
THIS was the one that broke my heart. I actually thought I had a shot at winning with this one. Turning the Mario Bros. into the Marx Bros. seemed like such a good idea, I figured someone must have done it already. When I googled it and saw that no one had, I made this bad boy. Several people on the Cracked message board complimented it including one who used the phrase “theres no shame in losing to this entry.” But that’s what happens when you believe you’re own hype….you get your hopes up, just to be dashed.
Ah well, on to the next one. This is the most work I’ve ever done for $50…that I never get. Oh if you want to see my entries that made it they are #18 (my weakest) and #7 here.

Yeah I don’t know why the marx brothers one didn’t make the list and #2 did. But I guess its random, because at this point a lot of excellent entries have gone to waste.

I loved the Marx Bros one – can’t believe it didn’t make the list either.

Good job on these, I got a good laugh out of most of them. My favorite is the Sierra Madre and Towering Inferno.

Tim, you should try submitting that Marx brother one to Shirt.woot.com contests they do. I would definitely buy a shirt with that on the front.
