Rejected By Cracked: Movie Mashups

July 15th, 2011 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

On Doug Benson’s Doug Loves Movies Podcast he plays a game called “Build A Title.” This is where you build a long movie title out of other movies by combining movies that have the same first and last word in the title. For instance: “Live and Let Die” plus “Die Hard” becomes “Live and Let Die Hard.”

Why am I explaining this game? Because Cracked’s latest Photoshop contest was essentially the same concept but with movie posters. It received the most entries of any of their contests to date. However, many of them were people who completely missed the point. (“Titanic Robocop?” Seriously?) Also, many of the entries were mine. Sadly only one of my entries (Arguably my weakest) made their list. But screw them! What do I have a blog for if not to make a list of my own. BEHOLD…

Dark Knight + Night at the Opera
I was so proud of this when I made it. Even though every other person was doing a Dark Knight entry, I really thought this stood out. Look at Groucho’s face! He looks so bored as Batman. And if you’re wondering what Chico’s button means, watch this clip from Night at the Opera.

Three Men and a Baby + Baby Mama
I thought this one was a shoe in. Look ad Danson’s face! Plus the wet stain on Selleck’s crotch! Plus the tagline with a reference to Ralph Garman’s favorite insult. What more do you need?!

Spider-man 2 + Two Weeks Notice
Is it wrong to use a sequel number to make it work? I say “no”

Superman III + Three Amigos
And I say no again!

Ocean’s 12 + 12 Angry Men
And I say no a third time. (It was harder than I thought to get that knife over Clooney)

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back + Backdraft
You can’t tell, but that’s not just random fire behind them, it’s the actual Backdraft poster. That was a lot of work for no good reason…kinda like all of these.

Nightmare Before Christmas + Christmas Vacation
I stumbled upon the holiday genre and it bore ripe, ripe fruit…

Passion of the Christ +Christmas Story
Ralphie on the cross…too much? Well I hope Jesus has a sense of humor…

Jesus Christ Superstar + Star Trek: First Contact
I really hope Jesus has a sense of humor…and that he’s a Trekkie.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country + Country Bears
Speaking of Star Trek…what do singing bears need with a starship? (I know, that’s Star Trek V, but work with me here)

A Bugs Life + Life is Beautiful
Only Pixar could make an animated Holocaust animated comedy. Can’t wait for the theme park ride.

Fantastic Four + Four Rooms
I’m not sure what this movie would be about, but I would hate to be Tim Roth a second after this picture was taken.

Superman + Man on the Moon
…apparently I had a thing for superhero movie mash ups.

Air Force One + One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
This was the first entry I made. It’s not amazing…but can you picture crazy Jack on the plane with President Harrison? Hell yeah!

Something About Mary + Mary Reilly
I knew “Something About Mary Poppins” would be taken so I decided to go a different way. And that 17 year old movie needed to be taken down a peg.

Muppet Treasure Island + Island of Dr. Moreau
…and good luck getting to sleep tonight. Wave goodbye to your inner child.

Love, love, love the Jesus Christ Superstar / First Contact poster! Maybe I’d follow Jesus if he looked and acted like Picard. I’m way too fond of Picard saying “Make it so.”
