I was there for the release party of Mountain Dew Voltage. When the 08-09 Winter Dew Tour stopped in Vermont, they were giving out samples. There was a concert with some contest winners and Boys Like Girls played. They were giving out full cans of the stuff at the end! But it was cold, man… Out on the slopes in Vermont in January.

I’ve been pulled over a few times in the UK and have never had to show any ID (I don’t even carry any picture ID). Mostly it was because my car was profiled – it was a ‘boy racer’ type car – and a few times for naughtiness.

The police are only really interested in whether you are capable/allowed to drive the vehicle – not if you should be in the country. They’d ask to see your licence – not your passport and visa. If they think you are involved in some criminal activity then obviously they will check up on you further.

As for racial profiling. . .I’m white so I can’t speak about any experiences of (negative) racial profiling. I’m not naive – it probably goes on more than I think it already does – but I believe the authorities try hard to prevent it happening. There has to be a legit reason for stopping someone and a legit reason to see any ID, and definitely a legit reason to take them to jail – not just because it’s a black dude in a hoodie innit! (Or a foreigner out without his passport on his person!)

I’d say the police here are really openly sexist though. Whenever I got pulled over they were always so lovely to me, perhaps giving me a little telling off if needed and apologising for stopping me before smiling and sending me on my way. The guys however usually ended up with their cars getting searched, were fined and given points for their naughty moments and were almost always given a 7-day producer (take their licence and vehicle documents into a police station).

2. Code Red is indeed the best Dew. Back in my heavy overtime tester days, whenever I was feeling physically awful (headache, exhausted, whatever), I would eat some pretzels and drink a Code Red. I always felt better afterward.

3. You forgot the next step after weed becomes legal and taxed and commercialized: you will get your overpriced organic weed at Whole Foods!
