Cooler heads?

February 18th, 2009 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

Ok…so a comedian I’ve never met from Texas just e-mailed me…er…excuse me…SPAM’ed me about getting free tickets to his show.

As we discussed on TANcast 34, I hate this. When I send out e-mails, I send them to people I actually think would enjoy the show. I don’t just blindly e-mail everyone on my list and it annoys me that other comics aren’t as considerate.

But this douche isn’t even one of my friends! I’ve never met him. I’ve never seen him. Fuck him!

So I want to send this e-mail in response, but I’m worried it might be too harsh:

Really dude? I’m a comedian. It’s right there in my name…”Tim Babb Comedian.”

How often do you go see comedians you never met just because they message you? I’ll bet not very often. I bet you’re busy working on your own shows.

I’m doing the same thing…but I don’t invite comedians to my shows unless I can get them stage time. So did you send me this because you can get me a guest set at one of your shows or are you just a tool sending out mass e-mails to comedians?

Why do I have a feeling I know the answer?

Thoughts?

Eh, I say just leave it here.

Douchebags won’t learn from emails. That is why I use my “I’m fucking IN HERE!” voice in person and believe in subtle vengance visited upon those further away.

If you really want to have some fun, mark his email as spam so he starts getting flagged by your email host, then use his email address to sign up for a ton of free offers, mailing lists, etc.

For bonus points, post his address to a few Usenet groups.

Listen to the monkey, for the monkey is wise and speaks truth.
Just take solace in the fact that this clownshoe is probably in the target demographic for the instructions on a can of Easy Cheese that read, “For best results, remove cap.”

Now Tim, play nice with the other comedians. Wait… I can’t give that advice, because it’s not what I’d do. I’d send that, mark him as spam, make a video bitching, and pretty much whatever else came to mind until I had done enough annoying things towards him, to counteract the level of annoyance felt by me. Eh, sorry Tim, I’m not a “cooler head”. I’m a hothead, actually. Tearing into people that annoy me is one of my favorite hobbies.
And Tony…. you mentioned the Easy Cheese Instruction demographic… is that similar to the Pop Tart instruction demographic?

    See my earlier post.
Once again, listen to the monkey.
The monkey is wise and speaks truth.
And if you don’t listen, he throws shit at you.
So it’s always a good idea to listen to the monkey.

Also if you don’t listen to the Monkey, it might rip your fucking face off!

  12. TonyNo Gravatar Says:

    Better watch it Tim.
I’ll be bumping your set back on stage one day. 😉
    And Noah, that’s not a monkey, it’s a chimp!
