I read as well the minority groups were for Prop 8. Which seems odd to me. It would seem as a minority you could relate and be against any type of rights being taken away.

Did anyone see the video from election night of Ralph Nader on Fox News saying that Obama has to make a choice from being an "Uncle Sam" or an "Uncle Tom"?
Pretty fucked up. look it up on youtube

I just have to say that other states need not hate on California so much. It's not legal where you live either.
But yea, I'm extremely sad that Prop 8 passed, but I'm not surprised in the slightest.
Really, San Francisco and LA are the only really liberal cities in California, and when they are combatting the rest of the state on such a big issue, they simply aren't going to win. You'd be surprised at how conservative every other area of California is. Also, and I hope no one gets in a huff about this one, statistics show that minorities don't vote as much. Guess where a lot of minorities live. LA. Inner-city areas. Etc. Also, according to some polls [I forget where I read this but I'll try to find out and post a link here] are showing that a lot of black people voted Yes on 8. So...I dunno what that's about but that probably threw things off a lot. Especially in the cities.
But I still believe that things will get turned around soon. The fight isn't over yet. Not by my account anyway. And if anyone anywhere in America who is whining about this gives up on this effort, then I don't think they cared enough in the first place. I for one am still fighting on behalf of all the people I love who don't have the right to marry the ones that they love. This is just a minor setback. We need not let it get us down.

I, too, am extremely disappointed in this state. I really didn't think there were enough fucktards to get Prop 8 passed. What's worse is that we're not the only state to pass such a law this week. Florida and Arizona joined the ranks of the retarded.

At least those of us with a brain have something to celebrate. O-BA-MA! O-BA-MA! I am very thankful that my daughter will be brought into a world where our President actually cares about us.

I've posted a video saying how against Prop 8 I was. I still think prop 8 was fuckin' retarded. As for Obama, and no offense to any Obama supporters here, I'm not happy because Obama won. I won't be happy until he actually starts making changes. I seem to be the only one keeping in mind that Obama is a politician, and that a lot of politicians make empty promises to get your vote. Until Obama does something to prove me wrong, and I hope like hell he does, I'm not going to be happy that he was elected. I might sound like an asshole there, but it's what I think. Regardless though... I still think we made the right choice, given the options.

My only other thought on Obama becoming president is a rather depressing one. The only way Obama goes down in history as the first black president, is if he does a bad job in office. Then it'll be to scare people away from voting another black man into office. If he does a great job in office (I'm expecting the worst from him, but hoping for the best), then everyone will point out that he's not "really" black, because his mother was white. Again, I hope I'm wrong (that's how I've felt about most things in this election), but I don't think I am.

Oh, and once again.... fuck Prop 8! I think that's about all I have to say at this point. I might have more to say once I start paying attention to other things that were on the ballot, but as of this moment.... those are the only things I actually know were on the ballot, so I can't say anything about anything else on the ballot. I said ballot too many times...

Um, "elasticities"?

I appreciate that you are using spellcheck now, but what the fuck did you type there that that was the suggested correction?

;-)

If it makes this a little less bitter, by far the strongest backing for this Proposition was among voters 65 and older, and statistically speaking those fuckers will be dying soon.

Are you kidding me? How can the country get it's shit together but California is still stuck in bigot territory? That's so fucked up. Fuck California, this just proves that it needs to break off and sink into the ocean (hoping that Tim and Noah make it out before that!) Looks like we all took 2 steps forward but California took 3 steps back into a big pile of homophobic shit. Fucking assholes!

I'm sorry, Tim. That does suck. I hate the way people say "liberal", because it's really not such a horrible thing to believe in civil liberties. Fuck prop.8 and people who swing so far "right", that they're completely wrong.
