TANcast 013 – Old Socks and Tears

August 24th, 2008 . by Tim Babb (TANcast's #1 Host/Editor Fan)

This week, the TANboys (minus one) give the people what they want: more TANG, start a new feature called TANlaughs, discus the misadventures at Tim’s wedding, and tell some stories with the moral “Buyer, beware!” (F@#% MERVYNS!) Then we discuss circumcision (What?!). Geoff takes us through some video game news including a controversial salute to Space Invaders. They talk movies including Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, and Clone Wars. They tell some tales of dealing with crazy homeless and drunks, movie trailers, and tragic tales of kitty death. Finally they wrap up with the longest goodbye ever.

Send your jokes for TANlaughs to: Tim (at) TANcast.com

Beeves is the plural of stock animals raised for slaughter such as cows, steer, or bulls. [so if you have a mix of cows and steers in one barn you could say “And this barn here is where I keep the beeves!”]
    Yea, I looked it up.
    [eat that shit!]

Ahh, the homeless… I can remember back in the good old days when there were just bums, loafers, tramps, and loiterers. The gauntlet killed me! Great show guys!

Great TNGcast, but so sad to hear the kitten story. 🙁
You’re not alone though Geoff. A friend of mine told me a tragic story involving an unfortunate bunny.
He was running around and he trod on one of the baby bunnies. His Mum turned around to find the bunny jerking around on the ground. He said to her “look Mummy, it’s dancing”. The poor bunny, he broke its back!

Oh and talking of running the gauntlet. When I was in Venice on holiday I had the same thing but with “knock-off” bag sellers. They’d even put one in a carrier bag and run after you, trying to put it under your arm and pressuring you to buy one. I hated it, they were everywhere! Loved Venice though.

HAHAhA I have seen the bush man too! I guess he is an icon in the fantastical world of ….bummery? bumhood? bumland?
I have jokes to tell!!! but how do I send them? you have an email just for this site? or do I leave a comment.?
And don’t feel bad, Geoff. I have killed animals on accident as well. But growing up vegetarian, I had a dad who told me if I killed it, I had to eat it. Yea, I came ok I guess…
Love the show, keep it up guys…I miss Andy though…

    I can’t wait!

Geoff, I AM always listening, and my mother will probably find you and kick your ass.

For the record (for any listeners who care), I am the YOUNGEST of the TANfolk.

Also for the record, the “favicon” was all me; nobody asked. I just got tired of not being able to find my TANcast tabs quickly and easily. The icon is a 32×32 pixel PNG image, so if Geoff is just seeing Tim then for some reason he is seeing the upper-left 16 pixels.

Some day I’ll replace that icon with something you can actually SEE, like the letters “TAN” on a colorful background or something. What icon we go with will depend, I’m sure, on what the theme winds up looking like. The one certainty is that it will probably suck.

The kitten (and bunny) stories killed my soul just a bit. I’ll make jokes about eating babies or punching idiots in the throat, but hearing about cute, small, fuzzy baby critters in pain makes me sob a little. I want to go home and hug my cats now…

Hopefully I WILL be back next week. More to follow.

Random thought: How the HELL are more than 100 people listening to us? Are we funny or something?

Random observation: Google is showing me an ad for Macy’s right now. Specifically, an ad for SOCKS on sale at Macy’s. I’m guessing their AdSense might have interpreted “F@#% MERVYNS!” correctly.

Is this in reference to the Album Art in iTunes? Why is it gone?
    Confruzed…
Looking forward to Andy’s return, too….

Can you throw a link to the Clone Wars review where they said that George Lucas is the enemy to everything fun? That’s just dying to be made into an e-mail sig!

    Google is your friend.

yea so this was the first episode i listened to. Geoff and Noah are my favourites. this podcast was genius. oh Mervyns…

  12. AndyNo Gravatar Says:

Anastasia, I’m sure if I was on this episode you’d have responded differently, perhaps by never listening again.

DJTechnoid, what we were talking about is the little “favicon” that shows up in your web browser (next to address or on the tab) when visiting TANcast.com.

I have NO idea where the album art on iTunes went. Maybe it is because Tim wasn’t entering the ID3 tags on the MP3 files for a while. I’ll see if I can figure it out.

    FYI…..
Mervyns is part of the company that owns Target.

Avoid them as well, at least their credit card.

But not their yummy Archer Farms muffins.

    Mmmm….
